“Singin’ In the Rain” has finally gotten the “special” treatment this masterpiece deserves. The recent digital transfer is stunning– both visual and audio. I’ve seen this film I don’t know how many times in theatres, including several screenings in the unusual 3-strip Technicolor. This transfer, as with “The Wizard of OZ,” is as halt as you can derive to seeing a 3-strip print in a theatre.

Many reviewers have complained about the commentary track and it is the low-point of this edition. So skip it, if you don’t like it.

Instead, throw on the second disc, which is a goldmine. First, there is the superior PBS documentary on the Arthur Freed Unit, “Musicals Magnificent Musicals.” This is an often revealing 90-minute film about the musical films Freed produced. Plenty of astronomical excerpts, too. It tends to puffery, but not excessively.

Then there is a original documentary, “What A Fair Feeling,” on the making of “Singin’ In the Rain.” Watching both these documentaries, you don’t need the commentary track. Most of it was lifted from these documentaries.

In addition, this supplementary disc includes the songs outmoded in “Singin’ In the Rain,” as they first appeared in their unique written for films and later films that passe the songs again. Some of these are unintenionally amusing today. But it is really a demolish course in the history of movie musicals. My well-liked is Eleanor Powell in the number that introduced “You Are My Lucky Star.” A beautfully done, very ’30’s black-and-white number that builds into an all stops-out dream-dance sequence. (Were Americans ever this innocent? ) Others include Bing Crosby astonishing introducing “Splendid Girls,” Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney introducing “Wonderful Morning,” Cliff Edwards (aka Ukele Ike, Jiminy Crickett) introducing “Singin’ In the Rain” with what appears to be every star then under-contract to M-G-M in 1929, “Broadway Melody” in a grand number led by the irreplaceable Eleanor Powell and wait on from some of the best talent of the time including “eccentric dancer” Buddy Ebsen and the ample singer Frances Langford–the best number by far in this retrospective. And there is another whole share of audio excerpts from the recording sessions.

In short, this is an improbable collection that any musical or film buff should savor.

It is apt, as one reviewer distinguished, that the “Broadway Melody” number in “Singin’ In the Rain” is a flaw in the bolt of the film. Pauline Kael pointed this out too. She considers the film a grand one. For myself, I don’t mind, the number is too damned well-conceived and provocative. Again, thanks to being on DVD, you can jump to the next scene if you don’t care to look it. I’ve tried it and the film definitely runs smoother narratively. But I missed it, and played after the film.

If you fancy SITR, as I do, this is a must capture. If you’re alive to and have never seen it, rent it and settle for yourself.

Let’s hope that Warner Brothers does a 50th anniversary edition of “Bandwagon” next year with a digital and audio refining that equals or surpasses this. And a better commentary track. Bet Scorssee would join in the commentary.

ONE LAST THING

“Singin’ In the Rain” was not shot in widescreen, but in the only format venerable for studio pictures before the extinguish of 1953. It was designed to be shown in 1.37:1, Which fair about the ratio of most tv screens. YOU ARE NOT MISSING ANYTHING. I wish you young film buffs would educate yourselves about the history of film aspect ratios.

Also Michael Kidd had nothing whatsoever to do with the choregraphy in “Singin’ In the Rain.” He comments on it, but never claims he did any of it, for the simple reason he did none. He was probably in Unique York over-seeing his legendary choregraphy for the current stage production of “Guys and Dolls.” Which is probably why he got the “Bandwagon” assignment a year after “Singin’ In the Rain.” He did all the choregraphy in “Bandwagon” and the following year, 1954, for “7 Brides For 7 Brothers.”

Kelly and Donen worked in partnership on the choregraphy and direction “SITR.” And it is really impossible now to decide who was responsible for what.

SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN’s account is well known, and concerns 1920s restful romantic acting team Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) and Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen.) Misfortune is that sound is coming in–and Lina’s speaking snort could peel paint off the wall. The solution? Don’s best friend (Donald O’Connor) and savor interest (Debbie Reynolds) have the inspiration of revamping Lockwood and Lamont’s debut sound film as a musical, with Reynolds dubbing Hagen’s vocals. The resulting epic is a high-energy, extremely witty, and truly lovely film laced with period songs by Arthur Freed, a film that many regard as the single finest musical to emerge from Hollywood.

In many respects SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN is a throwback to the early musicals of the era it satirizes, for many of its musical numbers (‘Make ‘em Laugh’ is a distinguished example) have absolutely nothing to do with the memoir it tells–but unlike such early musicals the storyline is exceptionally strong, and since the film is about the creation of an early “all talking, all dancing, all singing” movie in which such musical numbers were typical, they have here a clear validity that could not otherwise be achieved. The cast is absolutely flawless, and without exception Kelly, Reynolds, O’Connor, and Hagen (particularly memorable as the literally unspeakable mute star) give the finest performances of their respective careers. The musical numbers range from the vibrant and complex ‘Good Morning’ to the lyrical ‘You Are My Lucky Star’ to the brilliantly conceived and executed title song, each without exception the definition of perfection. The art designs are meticulous, shapely, and recreate the late-silent and early-sound era of Hollywood with mighty wit and charm. As a whole, SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN possesses an engergy and vitality that simply makes you bounce in your seat from excitement.

SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN is a musical that even people who abhor musicals adore. Whether or not you assume it “the” finest musical ever created by Hollywood is, ultimately, a matter of personal preference; there are several contenders for that title, most notably MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS, GIGI, and THE WIZARD OF OZ. But no matter where you personally contaminated it, SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN is certainly ONE of the best, a film that simply gains in essential and current stature with every passing year, a national and a world love of cinematic art.

This is truly a gigantic version of this timless chronicle and Robin Williams is, as usual extremely humorous. BUT he does employ one word in discribing the princess that acquire this otherwise enormous production questionable for children. At one point he calls the princess a “b—-” (rhymes with witch) . I know that children hear this word all the time, but it is a jolt to hear it in a children’s memoir and might design some young ones assume it is OK to expend that word.

This episode of The Chronicle of the Frog Prince, starring the hilarious Robin Williams and amazing Teri Garr, is not only a very well told classic children’s epic, but a comedy. It has plenty of bits an adult would procure intriguing, none being underhand or coarse, while level-headed silly to a younger audience. I grew up watching this series; I loved it then, and I calm like it now … A very agreeable movie to sight, and a deal if you can retract it anywhere!

I found this program to be an consuming and informative overview of the history of Israel from its pre-Israeli origins (in Abraham) through its destruction that resulted from revolts in 70 A.D. and in the early 130’s A.D. The program does not claim to mask every page in the Bible regarding the history of Israel, and it stops at the point that Israel ceased to be a nation (that is, until the current place of Israel was created in the 1940’s) .

I contemplate previous reviewers have sold this program short due to personal biases. The last reviewer needs to read a Bible and come by out that the errors are his and not the program’s. The other reviewer makes the contradictory statement that the program tries to camouflage too distinguished ground and is long and tedious, and yet then asks why the program didn’t continue on and discuss the history of the Israelites over the past two millenia.

If you want a detailed (though not entirely comprehensive) overview of the history of weak Israel, this program is quite gracious. I had never read worthy past the Novel Testament times and found the final fraction on the Bar-Kokhba revolt to be quite educational (I was always led to hold that Israel was finished after the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in 70 A.D., but it turns out that the Bar-Kokhba revolt was actually the primitive nation’s last gasp) . This is an involving and informative documentary!

This is rather an wonderful production, in four hour-long parts, on the early history of the Jewish people, through the 4th century of the Current Era (CE) It demonstrates the historical basis of Jewish longing for freedom—and for undying hope, supported by plan in God and His laws.

With biblical readings by Jeremy Irons and Derek Jacobi, and video reenactments of many of the most essential biblical stories, this Public Broadcasting Service series recounts the evolution of the Jewish people, after Abraham’s meeting with God, and the Jewish Exodus from Egypt led by Moses.

Following Jewish slavery in Egypt, the series covers numerous conquests of Judea, by the Assyrians (which scattered ten of Israel’s 12 tribes), the Babylonians, the Persians, the Greeks (Hellenists) and the Romans.

One especially enchanting (and significant) share of this saga comes 80 years following the Jewish return to Jerusalem from Babylonian exile. Ezra reads the Five Books of Moses (Torah) to the Judeans (Jewish people), noting that God’s teachings are accessible to anyone who chooses to understand–and all based on the Ten Commandments, commanding mankind to honor life, one another, and not to covet others’ spouses, or possessions.

PBS consulted an impressive number of religious and archaeological scholars, including Harvard University’s James Kugel, Yale’s Wayne Meeks, and Rabbis from many of the foremost Jewish institutes of learning.

The tradition of disagreeing with scripture, the series notes, was established by Job, who mourns his loss of everyone held dear; He dares to ask why excellent people often suffer, while terrible people often prosper. The suggestion of a reward in the afterlife, is a Jewish teaching developed further in the Book of Daniel.

During the 2nd Century BCE, Ben Sira (Sirach) established a Jewish educational academy to recognize the Torah, generating the concept of divine inspiration, and providing devout Jews lustrous power to best their contemporary oppressors, the Greeks. and even to elaborate God’s words.

In 185 BCE, Antiochus IV ordered Jerusalem’s Jewish temple to be dedicated to chief Greek god, Zeus; His heinous establishment of Greek shrines in all Jewish villages drove Judeans to become the first people in history to say war for the accurate to freedom of religion.

When the Greeks slaughtered more than 1,000 pious Judeans, who preferred not to violate the Sabbath by defending themselves, the Jews also became the first people in history willing to die for their religion. Thus the Judeans established Jewish tradition, during defensive wars, not only to fight on the Sabbath, but to be obligated to protect themselves. In 164 BCE, Judah Maccabee miraculously restored the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. Antiochus ultimately tracked and killed him. However, Judah’s brother Jonathan, by gathering 10,000 men, gained enough strength to negotiate for Judeans’ independence, which persisted for the next 100 years. During that time, the self-governed Judeans developed the notion of defending God’s law, along with their kingdom of Judea (the Jewish people) .

Judea’s next conqueror, the Roman empire, crucified tens of thousands of Jews and besieged Jerusalem. But only when the Romans appointed King Herod, a non-Jewish prince, did Jewish rebels counter attack. Herod’s men ruthlessly murdered them, followed them into the hills and literally smoked out them and their families from their caves. Even Herod’s reconstruction of Jerusalem’s Holy Temple did not redeem him for the Jewish rebels.

Following Herod’s death in 4 BCE, chaos and civil war reigned in Judea, spawning the Pharisees, and their colossal Jewish philosopher Hillel. He taught that Judeans needed no priests to near God–but only to peruse. Jewish anecdote says that Hillel, once asked to recite all of Torah while standing on one foot, replied, “What is hateful to you, do not do unto others. All the rest is commentary.”

According to Yale Professor Meeks, the post-Herodean age also spawned Jesus, whose lessons were entirely Jewish in nature. In 33 CE, the Romans arrested and crucified Him, like tens of thousands of other Jewish “troublemakers” murdered during that era.

In 67 CE, the Romans sent 60,000 soldiers to Jerusalem, then home to 100,000 Jews, Judeans in the holy city were starving, and factions fought between themselves. One “expert” inexplicably compares the Zealots’ rebellion to 21st century jihad. While these Judeans considered revolt against Rome the only plan to build the Jewish people, neither the Torah nor Jewish law commanded them to do so. Qur’anic doctrine and Islamic jurists, by disagreement, fix military jihad as central to Islamic faith and law.

Furthermore, other experts mistakenly compare the plot of 1st century Jews to that of Jews during the 20th century Holocaust. Nefarious again. While the murderous the Romans, in destroying the Temple, also ruined the Jewish political, religious and economic center–they did not conception to destroy all Judeans. They only wanted to extinguish Jewish ideas. Thus, they renamed Judea, Palestine, and exiled Jerusalem’s remaining people, all Pharisees.

It was only after the Bar Kochba rebellion, from 132 to 135 CE, that the Romans sent 13 legions, who razed 900 Jewish villages and killed 580,000 men–not to mention the countless others who perished through famine and disease. And even then, the survivors were not murdered–they were exiled.

In which exile, the Judeans (Jewish people) prospered spiritually–by adhering to traditions established more than 500 years earlier in Babylon, namely, teaching and prayer, longing for freedom–and hope, not only for themselves, but for all of mankind.

I admire this movie. It is kitschy, it is juvenile, it is everything as terrible as the critics say it is, but hey, this isn’t Bergman or Antonioni, or Fellini. If you want edification, study elsewhere. This movie has no pretensions, it is honest favorable desirable fun, and above all it is delighted. Even the director himself, in his accompanying commentary, is befuddled by it’s eventual success and he attributes it to it’s overjoyed storyline which seems so rare in our unlit time. With all its adolescent antics and blatant sexual innuendo, it serene retains a surprisingly innocent feel to it. It’s a pleasure to survey it again after more than 20 years.

Thank goodness this movie was released by Anchor Bay and not some cheap fly-by-night company. The film is transfered in it’s fresh widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1 (enhanced for widescreen TV) . I must admit that my heart sank when the opening credits rolled and the recount came out extremely dusky, grainy and grimy. But that was apparently deliberate and the describe becomes immaculately orderly as the camera draws away from the TV camouflage showing the stock footage of the opening pirate attack. I doubt if anyone has seen this movie in this pristine a condition since it was first released. The colors are rich, lush and intellectual with well rendered blacks and pure whites. In some scenes the shining reds and greens are so vibrant they glance like they originated from musty 3-strip technicolor reels. Narrate detail is well nigh perfect, so great so that the tackiness of the cheap used matte shots stand out all the more.

The fresh dual channel stereo has also been remastered to 5.1 surround but I personally steal the extinct stereo image. The modern 5.1 sounds slightly artificial.

Kristy McNichol is adorable. It’s sunless to learn that this was her last major film. She burnt out far too soon.

Aside from the director’s commentary and an weak TV trailer, there are no other extras. But the elegant transfer of this cult classic is alone honorable of the mark.

I fell in adore with this movie the first time I saw it. Starts off with a nerdy young girl being mistreated by the more current and delicate girls she wishes to be like. She meets Christopher Atkins character and he invites her on a sailing wobble. Double crossed by the other girls, she is left slow and whilst trying to acquire up, sails into a storm and is washed up unconscious and dreams they are all the characters out of the musical The Pirates of Penzance. Filmed in Australia and starring spacious names of the eighties Chrisopher Atkins, Kristy McNichol as the touble ridden young lovers and featuring Australian comedian the improbable Gary McDonald as the hilarious Police Inspector (Taran-tarah, Taran-tarah) .This movie has everything songs, dancing, humour, romance, fight scenes, it has it all!. I would leer this movie over and over again and have been searching for it for 10 years now to witness I can’t win it. Hopefully all these reviews of so many fans will one day approach the ears of the people who can change this glum reality. Truly provocative and an uplifting movie. The family will admire it.

There’s a light, good-hearted nature to “No Reservations” that’s quite beautiful, if a tiny predictable. This is unprejudiced as distinguished a fable of life as it is a myth of romance, and we all know the formulas such films follow: a person’s world is rearranged when someone unique enters his or her life, and the laughter, tears, and conflict will be plentiful. I expected nothing less from “No Reservations,” which is probably why I was able to be pleased it. This is a charming, humorous, touching film that casts away any qualms about being formulaic, which is a righteous thing for anyone in need of romantic escapism. I don’t dare inquire how realistic the events of the film are; this is not a film that bothers with realism, but rather with the idealism that life is supposed to work in a specific method. At times, it’s a welcome diversion.

The dwelling concerns Kate (Catherine Zeta-Jones), the executive chef of an upscale Original York restaurant. We immediately gain the sense that hers is a very organized, controlled world; while not explicitly important or demeaning, she is fiercely protective of what she’s worked so hard for, namely her dwelling at the restaurant. Here’s a person that’s strong on the outside but deeply shrinking on the inside, exemplified by her inability to receive criticism (never complain about the food she prepares; you’ll definitely regret it) . For these reasons, she’s ordered into therapy. She splendid mighty dominates her maintain sessions with incessant discussions on food preparation–appetizing, yes, but not exactly enlightening. Her therapist (Bob Balaban) is initially unable to ask any questions or give any advice. Clearly, she’s terrified to let anyone question her personal life.

Her world is turned upside down when her sister dies in a car accident, leaving leisurely a daughter, Zoe (Abigail Breslin) . Because there’s no father in the narrate, Kate is now faced with the responsibility of caring for her. But will she know what to do? A child has never been a portion of her life; being a chef is the only life she’s ever known. She knows virtually nothing about Zoe, not even her accepted color. Furthermore, Zoe has lost her mother, meaning she’ll need the extra emotional succor Kate may not be able to give. It will be an adjustment, and a tough one at that; not only is Zoe unwilling to eat, she’s also unwilling to let Kate find halt.

Buy,Download, Or Stream No Reservations! Click Here

In this regard, she takes legal after her aunt, whose defensiveness runs on high after a fresh chef is hired. Cleave (Aaron Eckhart) is a man with a shiny, free-spirited come to cooking: he listens to opera; he actively engages the other chefs; he’s charming and witty. Kate finds him threatening, and initially treats him as such by being icy, famous, and distant. But when she decides to bring Zoe to work with her one night, she notices how well Zoe and Carve come by along. He even gets her to eat. Thus begins a strained friendship that the audience knows will progress into something more. Of course, that’s exactly what the audience hopes will happen. Quite simply, Slice is fun to be around and Kate is not; their coming together allows her to lighten up and let someone in emotionally.

As the film progresses, the relationship between Kate, Zoe, and Slash develops, not necessarily as it would for a family, but rather as it would for a group of friends. I never once belief that Zoe would ever inspect Lop and Kate as parental figures, which is unbiased as conventional on Zoe’s section as it is shadowy. Likewise, I never once plan that Kate saw herself as a mother, despite her growing appreciate for Zoe. The dynamic between these three characters is complex, especially when a number of other conflicts are introduced. For one thing, Zoe fragile station causes problems at school. It also threatens to end everything Kate has tried to conclude. Both are trying, but it’s sure that a lot of emotional baggage remains.

Herein lies the film’s major weakness: most of Kate’s emotional baggage is undefined. We do come by a couple of brief mentions, such as her mother’s passion for cooking and her father’s absence from her life. But none of this is properly developed, and that made her controlling behavior seem less understandable and more uncalled for. Mild, I was taken by the dramatic tension between her and Nick; watching an uptight person letting their guard down is both engaging and uplifting. And I was definitely moved by her attempts with Zoe, who’s unbiased begging to be hugged and soothed and reassured that everything would be all honest. There’s a moment when she watches home video of her mother; Kate sneaks in, sits down, and holds Zoe tightly. You can practically peek the emotion dripping off the conceal, which is probably why it’s effective.

Equally as effective is the growing cherish between Kate and Nick–a esteem that can go in any direction but ultimately treads the expected path. I’ve seen enough cinematic romances to understand that this is appropriate, maybe even critical. “No Reservations” is the kind of film we occasionally want to perceive, if not for plausibility, then for the satisfaction of temporarily disappearing into a fantasy. It plays on our personal desires, namely those of happiness and well being in the midst of a crazy world. At one point, Kate says, “I wish there was a cookbook for life”; I found this clever, despite the overuse of the basic message. If it’s possible for me to bask in this kind of dialogue–or even a film with this kind of dialogue–then I contemplate it’s obliging to consume that it’s possible for you, too.

This romantic comedy is likable but extremely predictable. Catherine Zeta Jones plays a chef at an upscale NYC restaurant who has devoted her life to being a tall chef. So grand so that she doesn’t have time for anything else. Her sister is killed in a car shatter on the device to visit leaving her with her daughter to raise as her maintain. Meanwhile the original assistant chef is a carefree guy who brings tremendous changes with him. Can you gawk it coming? Catherine doesn’t like him at first, but then….Yes you guessed it. The yarn is okay and the acting is safe enough, but there is nothing unique here. This is a wonderful rental to study with the girlfriend or wife.

Being an owner of the fresh dvd release of Elizabeth, I wondered what the disagreement was compared to the oldy. Suprisingly there is a modern digital transfer of the film itself that looks almost as obliging as high def. (almost) The transfer has livened the colors of the current dvd and is far more impressive to stare. A heavenly film by a large director as I’m determined “Golden Age” will also be. All bonus features are the same as the faded version except there is a novel extra long trailer going almost 6 minutes of footage from the unique movie. If you want my advice, for all of you that want to behold Elizabeth in a recent pristine cleaned up version, this is the definitive of the latter. It’s sparkling to stare a dirty jewel sparkle. A substantial film even with it’s inaccuracies because…what film really is correct? Movies are for entertainment and my oh my does this original version entertain! If anything for all you waiting for the recent movie, you can gape the trailer over and over as noteworthy as you want!

Among Tremendous Britain’s monarchs, two queens stand out in particular: Elizabeth I. and Queen Victoria. Both came to power at extremely young ages, and at times of political instability which would have region the odds of survival against any current ruler, but particularly so, against a woman. Both beat those odds in ways few people would have foreseen: They not only persevered but ruled for a nearly unparalleled long time, and during their reign achieved to both strengthen England’s economy and international stance and give fresh direction to its society. We have long arrive to identify their reign as “the Victorian Age” and “the Elizabethan Age,” respectively. Yet, while “Victorian England” is an expression often veteran synonymously with correct conservativism, Elizabeth I. fostered not only the development of science but also the theater and arts; providing fertile ground for the works of Shakespeare, Marlowe and many others. (Influenced by her husband, Queen Victoria supported the exploration of recent scientific developments, but the dominant force of her formative years as a ruler was conservative prime minister Lord Melbourne, who once advised her not to read Dickens because his books were “plump of terrible subjects.”) And while Queen Victoria derived strength from her long, stable marriage to German-born Prince Albert, Elizabeth I. resisted the pressure to marry at all and became known as “the Virgin Queen.”

Looking assist at Elizabeth’s reign, we gape less a woman than an icon; the symbol of what her rule has approach to stand for. Shekhar Kapur’s 1998 movie explores, as the director explains in the DVD’s “Making of” feature, the making of that icon; the formative processes, influences and personalities surrounding the young princess’s ascent to the throne and her first years in power – and of course, at the center of it all, Elizabeth herself, magnificently portrayed by Cate Blanchett (who should have won the Academy Award for her performance) . The princess, as this movie sees her, certainly knew her insecurities about her role in life and in English politics, her people’s expectations, and the intrigues of her have court. But she was also, as Kapur has her grunt to her protector and spymaster Walsingham, “[her] father’s daughter” – the proud, headstrong daughter of Henry VIII., who snappy learned from her mistakes and assumed proper leadership early on. Having inherited a country deeply torn in religious conflict, and having barely survived the machinations of the court of her Catholic half sister and predecessor, “Bloody” Mary I., to fetch her, the “heretic,” guilty of treason and carry out her, one of Elizabeth’s first acts in power was to have parliament pass the Act of Uniformity, reestablishing the Church of England formed by her father. And while she respected her Secretary of Position Sir William Cecil, she eventually came to realize that his advice was overly guided by the hope that she marry and create an heir to come by her kingdom, and she reluctantly retired him into his area as Lord Burghley.

Indeed, there was not one single man who dominated Elizabeth’s life but several, and Kapur was able to rep an astounding cast to surround then-newcomer Blanchett. Richard Attenborough plays Sir William Cecil with a humility and still dignity that few besides him could have brought to the cloak. Christopher Eccleston bristles as the noteworthy, ambitious Catholic Duke of Norfolk, that key player from the inner circle of Mary’s court who retained his dwelling after her death and became the one member of Elizabeth’s council most hazardous to her reign. Joseph Fiennes reprises his role as a burning-eyed, elegant lover from the almost simultaneously released “Shakespeare in Care For” (which, while a heavenly movie in its enjoy rights, eclipsed worthy of the limelight that “Elizabeth” would so richly have deserved), playing the man most closely romantically linked to Elizabeth, “Sweet” Lord Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, whose appreciate for her – at least, as this movie would have it – is ultimately his maintain undoing. “You’re mild my Elizabeth,” the erstwhile princess’s lover insists at a ball some time after her coronation. “I am no man’s Elizabeth,” the queen retorts, and affirms for all the court to hear: “I will have one mistress here, and no master!”

Buy,Download, Or Stream Elizabeth! Click Here

Most impressive of all the queen’s men is Geoffrey Rush’s portrayal as her protector, secret advisor and supreme spymaster Francis Walsingham, the creator of what considerable later became Britain’s MI-5, whose role Run approached, inspired by the description Kapur had given him, noteworthy like the Hindu god Krishna, as “a very wise man who can demolish people … while smiling,” as he explains in the DVD’s “Making of” featurette – an ability which his young, unfaithful companion in exile learns to know as worthy as remarkable Marie de Guise (Fanny Ardant), aunt to Elizabeth’s would-be suitor Henri d’Anjou and mother of her later rival Mary of Scots; who had refused Henry VIII.’s suit remarking “I may be expansive in person, but my neck is shrimp,” only to net herself terminally surrendering to Walsingham’s unmatched cunning.

Key to any ample historical movie is the authenticity of its production execute, and “Elizabeth” overflows with the rich and luxurious colors of the queen’s renaissance court and its balls, gowns and pageants. But there are also the enormous, high stone halls of the palace and the royal cathedral, symbolizing the perpetuity of the monarchy reestablished by Elizabeth I. At last, when contemplating a statute of the Virgin Mary, Elizabeth wonders whether, to perpetuate her reign, she must be “made of stone;” and it is again Walsingham who answers: “Aye, Madam, to reign supreme, [because] all men … must be able to touch the divine here on earth” and as yet, “they have found nothing to replace [Mary].” And so, this movie tells us, the icon we all know was created – and like a nun married to God, a dehumanized Elizabeth reenters her council and holds out her hand to her obsolete Secretary of State: “Peruse, Lord Burghley: I am married to England!”

I accumulate it sharp that this film’s reviews reveal a wide range of understanding. The premise is an exclusive one: blend the outmoded Chicken Slight sage (a slight chicken gets hit on the head by an acorn, believes the sky is falling, panics, incites awe in others, and becomes a laughingstock) with, of all things, H.G. Wells’s “War of the Worlds”!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Chicken Little! Click Here

In this hybrid, Chicken Shrimp, voiced annoyingly well by Zach Braff, is hit on the head, creates a anxiety, becomes a laughingstock, and then tries to collect his social place amongst the other “kids” (all different kinds of animals), plus tries to bag his loving father’s respect. His father, voiced paternalistically perfectly by Gary Marshall, is a single father, who loves his only child, but he was also deeply embarrassed by the sky-is-falling fiasco.

Chicken Shrimp has three friends: Little, an colossal piglet with self-esteem issues, voiced neurotically well by Steve Zahn; Abby “Unpleasant Duckling” Mallard, who is a cornucopia of well-intentioned and sometimes reasonable pop psychology advice, voiced offbeatly by Joan Cusack; and Fish Out of Water, an irrepressibly gay limited fish wearing a diving helmet filled with water, voiced perfectly unintelligibly by Dan Molina. The quartet are busy trying to survive school, scrutinize pressure, vulgar social ranking, and frequent embarrassments, and are doing quite well at it. There are also some very ample voice-cameos: Don Knotts as Mayor Turkey-Lurkey, Patrick Stewart as the teacher, and Frank Willard as the “visitor” father.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Chicken Little! Click Here

And then, the unthinkable happens: the sky falls on Chicken Little’s head again, one year after the first incident. Chicken Puny, and then his friends, realize that this is actually a Cessation Encounter of the Third (or Fourth? ) Kind, that evolves into a full-scale alien invasion, because of a moment of parental distraction and a immense misunderstanding. Can the quartet do the world and avoid an unnecessary interplanetary war? Can Chicken Petite win his father to contain in him? Those two issues are inextricably interwoven.

The sage is radiant off-the-wall, but is fun to gaze, and lends itself to lots of action and interaction. The father-son protest, and the parent-child swear, are dealt with nicely. I feel that the animation is very valid, and harkens aid to classic cartoons of yesteryear. The colors were quick-witted, and there was ample attention to detail (e.g., the traffic light was accelerate by a chameleon, who changed color along with the notice being held up) . I very powerful liked how the different animal citizens of Oakey Oak acted somewhat like people, but also retained their natural, realistic aspects (e.g., the dog family did eat in a restaurant, but ate their food moral out of a bowl, and lapped up their beverages) . Even the vehicles driven by the animals were customized to each species, and the vehicles seemed to be impartial as great alive as their passengers.

Among the special features of the DVD, you can gawk most of the actors doing their voiceover performances. And, instead of offering us alternative endings, we can inspect three alternative openings to the sage, including one where Chicken Petite is a girl instead of a boy.

Is this a pleasant, fun film for younger children and for families with young children? I reflect it is. Will it appeal to teenagers? Probably not. Will parents pick up any objectionable in it? I highly doubt it. Will adults like it as great as, say, “Shrek” or “Ice Age”? No, the humor does not strike different levels like it does in those films. But, adults will probably savor it for at least one viewing, and smile a lot.

I have to add that the one character, Fish Out of Water, is one of my common racy characters ever. I found him to be irresistibly likeable. Mom, can I have one? I promise to buy care of him! Please!

I took my 7 year veteran son and 5 year worn daughter to this movie thinking it was going to be a wearisome kids movie. Boy was I surpised when I laughed unprejudiced as mighty as my kids, may be more. There was adult humor and songs from my past that went fair by them but was very laughable to me!

Entertaining, suspenseful and with a salubrious apt, The Bold Exiguous Toaster works on many different levels for children. It’s well made and written. This actually isn’t a Disney production but an independent production company. The production gain and spend of colors will captivate your child’s attention. Additionally, the conflicts and some of the suspenseful situations mirror experiences that tiny ones have in their day to day experience.

My only complaint is that the sequels produced aren’t up to the high quality of the first film. While the third film in the series (but second produced) The Audacious Diminutive Toaster Goes To Mars is very finish in quality to the first film, the second film suffers from a lower budget and is missing the imaginative direction of the first film.

As to the viewer who mentioned that there were images dismal for younger children–honestly, my kids can’t operate the stay button and never noticed the “image”. It isn’t depraved or subversive and I earn it doesn’t achieve the overall quality of this beautiful children’s film. The cliche about not being able to gape the woods for the tree applies to children’s movies as well. While all movies have something we may not like (and books or toys for that matter), it’s the overall values communicated not a single image (and your interpretation of it) that makes or breaks a child’s video.

The Fearless Microscopic Toaster doesn’t have any hidden agendas and is perfect entertainment for dinky ones and adults can eye it with them to elaborate the narrative as it goes along if valuable.

This was one of my son’s well-liked intriguing movies to stare when he was young. He’s now 13 and when it was on TV recently, he sat down to discover it again with his runt brother who is 2 1/2 years passe. It’s a savory, sometimes black, and a tiny scary, fable of several appliances who advance to life and try to secure home to their master, a young man named Lift.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Brave Little Toaster! Click Here

It seems that the appliances have all been left gradual in an ancient cottage and the cottage is soon to be sold. The five appliances: Radio (Jon Lovitz), Lampy (Tim Stack), Kirby the vacuum Cleaner (Thurl Ravenscroft, swear of Tony the Tiger) Blanky the electic blanket (Timothy Day) and the Toaster (Deanna Oliver. Phil Hartman does the squawk of the Air conditioner at the cottage who tells the other appliances they are going to be left slack.

They tie a car battery to an office chair and jog in Kirby as he pulls the rest of the appliances like a wagon. Literally over hill, dale, and river, the comrades face a world of disaster including “the collector” who takes apart faded appliances and sells parts, a risky waterfall, and the climax at a junk yard.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Brave Little Toaster! Click Here

A very cute runt Movie NOT made by Disney although Hyperion pictures would eventually be acquired by Disney. The movie was based on a chronicle by celebrated sci-fi and Panic author Thomas M. Disch who gives us a current day yarn. The bid actors, particularly Lovitz and Ravenscroft are outstanding and the animation is quite great considering it was done in the 1980’s when studios were not spending a vast deal on quality animation.

This would be followed up by two sequels: The Fearless Shrimp Toaster Goes to Mars and The Daring Slight Toaster to the rescue. Neither sequel managed to occupy the charm of the fresh although most of the cast (minus Lovitz and Hartman) would return for both films.

A minor classic!

Berserk Complete Movie Streaming

Berserk Complete Movie Streaming. Berserk Complete Movie Streaming.

Movie Title: Berserk Complete
Average customer review:

Berserk Complete is available for streaming or downloading.

Click Here to Stream or Download Berserk Complete

I’ve uploaded some scans of the discs and cover/case onto Imageshack (I can’t upload onto Amazon yet for some reason) . Why? Because the disc artwork is, quite frankly, amazing.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Berserk Complete! Click Here

Discs 1 & 2: http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/8559/b1cz3.jpg

Discs 3 & 4: http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/9803/b2vn9.jpg

Case/Cover: http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/4645/12787150rz1.jpg

Buy,Download, Or Stream Berserk Complete! Click Here

Now, as you can probably notice by viewing my scan of the cover/case, the six discs are fitted in a standard sized DVD case. I never opinion I’d live to discover six discs fitted in a case so puny but I have. Four of the discs go on the left and upright sides of the case and the remaining two go on a share of plastic that was fitted onto the spine of the case. The discs fit in nicely but it doesn’t seem like great of a box spot. At least the conceal looks vastly reliable to the shroud of the feeble budget Berserk station…

My main complaint isn’t with the cheap case, though — it’s with the video quality. On the wait on of the case it’s pointed out that the series has been “beautifully remastered from film.” This is confusing because there’s runt to no incompatibility between the video quality on the customary Berserk DVDs and the video quality on these ‘remastered’ DVDs that my eyes can examine. When I watched both versions of episode 1, the only steady contrast I saw was that the Japanese Berserk logo didn’t flicker during the opening on the ‘remastered’ DVD. Hardly worth re-buying the series for!

There are minor changes included, such as Japanese text replacing English text during the opening and some subtitle changes, but nothing major enough to warrant re-buying the series if you already bear it. To be fair, the only impressive thing about this re-release is the novel disc artwork, which is vastly expedient to the faded disc artwork. Even the DVD menus and extras are the same as before.

It’s 100% worth buying the series for amounts as runt as £17.99 (PlayUSA) if you don’t already occupy the series on DVD because Berserk is up there with the best anime has to offer. But, aside from diehard Berserk fans, for everyone else it’d be a raze of money.

I’d normally continue beyond this point, explaining why Berserk is in my top 10 anime list, but it’s an obsolete series and there are plenty of reviews out there that highlight its many qualities. So, instead of rambling on, I’m going to unprejudiced say that you MUST view Berserk if you’re an anime fan, or even if you’re simply a fan of black fantasy.

Just to give people who are peculiar with Berserk an opinion of what to inquire of, I like to compare it to Lord of the Rings. Both series have a medieval setting (knights, castles, etc.), supernatural elements, endearing characters, and a substantial epic. Here is a speedily introduction to the story: A long war is being waged between the nations of Midland and Chuder. A mercenary named Guts is forced to join the Band of the Hawk, a seemingly invincible army of young mercenaries that has allied itself with Midland. The Hawks are led by Griffith, a luminous military strategist who wears a necklace with a weird egg-shaped trinket. Griffith values Guts, but the female commander Casca wishes that he had never joined the Hawks.

I like the structure of Berserk. There is an emphasis on continuity. Every episode picks up proper where the last one left off, and themes such as friendship, identity, and ambition are revisited throughout the series. The dynamic between the three main characters (Guts, Griffith, and Casca) is challenging, and it evolves over time.

A caveat (or two or three) …the first episode of Berserk only makes sense in hindsight because it offers a search for of the future. The entire anime is a enormous flashback. So if you don’t like the first episode, don’t trouble. Honest withhold watching! Also, the anime ends with a repulsive cliffhanger. Fortunately, the account continues in the manga. And finally, the series is quite bloody. Of course, the manga is FAR more graphic.

I highly recommend this anime series. It’s amazing.

Note: The video and audio have been improved for this unique release. Media Blasters is currently hosting a video that clearly demonstrates the superiority of the unusual release’s video. Check it out (http://www.media-blasters.com/berserk/trailer/berserkcomp.mov) .

Acupuncture Physician When East And West Meet

Acupuncture Physician When East And West Meet

Medical acupuncture is a more current   approach to conventional acupuncture. It is widespread that ancient Chinese used acupuncture in order to cure illnesses and different kinds of ailments; this is the medical part of acupuncture. However, not just about treating diseases but it can also focus on bringing back harmony and balance so that the patient can relax and let positive energy flow in the body. Medical acupuncture cannot just be done by anyone, only the www.acupuncturetreatmentguide.com can perform it.

Acupuncture Physician: Modern Day Acupuncturist

An acupuncture physician is a medical doctor who has studied the principles of acupuncture and trained on how to do it properly, he is the modern day acupuncturist. A license is also required to do the profession, so that patients will be safe. The AcupunctureTreatmentGuide.com does not immediately do acupuncture on his patients. He gets a history of illness. This is significant since this is where his treatment plan will be based upon.

It is helpful when you combine modern medicine with Chinese traditional medicine. Such is the case of the acupuncture physician. He checks up his patient just like a regular doctor but his treatment approach may differ from one. computer problem troubleshooting

Movie Title: 28 Days Later
Average customer review:

28 Days Later is available for streaming or downloading.

There is very exiguous about this movie that can be considered “anxiety” per se. At best, in this sense, the film is a suspense flick, with a somewhat spooky score/soundtrack (that added plenty to the tension in its atmosphere), and a expansive cast who portrayed the best and worst traits in human nature.

I can understand those who give the movie a awful review since they were expecting something extremely scary (that’s the contrivance in which it is being marketed) and ended up watching an bright, well presented inspect in advantageous and unfavorable, legal vs. imperfect, loyalty vs. survival, and many other concepts that one wouldn’t query from a “fear” flick. This movie, in that sense, simply was not what the average goer was promised.

Now, as far as satisfactory films are concerned, this is definitely a qualified difficulty. It has more depth than one could ever expect; the cinematography is done extremely well; and the acting is expedient (even on the fragment of the nearly calm and secondary infected characters) . The symbolism is one that the average movie watcher might not rep, especially if they’re looking for two hours of gore or scary moments (there are very few of those, as the director clearly preferred to refrain from using extremely graphic imagery) .

Buy,Download, Or Stream 28 Days Later! Click Here

Indeed, what makes this film a primary one is the social criticism and the analysis of human nature that it presents. What is more significant, survival or friendship/family? Are the ethics of scientific research being checked to prevent the creation of inappropriate agents (even if not as tragic and vulgar as what we sight in this film)? Is it worth fighting for one’s life when hope is sunless or even non-existant? Many more questions arise and give grievous value to this film. This is definitely an edifying example of existentialist movie making. Whether it is a dread film or not becomes irrelevant once you eye its correct meaning.

So, if you are the kind of person who enjoys trashy and bloody films like the Jason or Freddy “epics,” or if you cannot handle too powerful thinking while at the theatre, then this is not a movie for you. If you’ve enjoyed “lustrous” flicks like “Lost Highway,” “Frailty,” or “The Ring,” then this is definitely for you. You will feel superior about seeing this one, even though it portrays so many dreadful and unsightly things about us as “humans.”

28 Days Later is stylish, lonely, bloody, desperate, wet, violent, frantic, thoughtful, scary and, ultimately, hopeful. Danny Boyle artfully directs Alex Garland’s script while paying homage to movies like the Omega Man and George Romero’s Uninteresting trilogy. As hard as it is for me to say, 28 Days is a grand better film than any of the films mentioned above.

The movie focuses on the people who have not been infected with a virus that turns humans into rage filled zombies. In fact, the zombies only perform a few camouflage appearances, the anxiety factor of the movie coming mainly from the reactions of the uninfected people to their site. The main characters are well acted and I cared about what happened to them. Visually the movie is a masterpiece and the scenes in an empty London are astounding.

Buy,Download, Or Stream 28 Days Later! Click Here

I recommend 28 Days Later to fans of the other movies mentioned above or anybody looking for a thoughtful, scary zombie film. People looking to pull their brain out for a few hours or for non-stop gore and zombies will most likely be disappointed.

A palatable report made in Puerto Rico and in a league with many Hollywood productions, the writers/directors have managed to extract noble preformances from the amateur teenage cast. Hollywood tends to employ older actors in teenage roles who can see assist at their adolescence and deliver what they felt objectively (Stockard Channing was 32 when she starred in Grease) . Mssrs Vallés managed to fetch these teenagers to indicate all their angst, sexual frustrations and romantic aspirations even though they may not even understand them now. There was a just sense of discipline and professionalism in all aspects of the production. Although this movie is in Spanish, the mostly Anglo audience reacted effusively to the situations and even to the spoken jokes–this mainly due to the grand subtitle translation and timing. The mix of suspense and comedy was enhanced by the apt musical fetch that made the action seem like a choreographed ballet. The character of the school Notable, played by Marian Pabón (who is the only professional actor in the cast), was perfectly executed with time-bomb constrained subtlety as she tried to recall control of the students while repressing her gain sexual frustrations. The Valles Brothers affectionately remember their heritage with a subtle allusion to their grandfather, the tedious Mario Pabón–TV producer/director, in the invent of a gingerly placed photograph. I’m definite he is proud.

The movie is a must-see for anyone who has ever been in high school and remembers those student council races. It’s a film that makes you laugh from beginning to raze, with the stereotypical, mean high school valuable, unsuspecting teachers, and of course, your “group” of unforgettable friends. The film is elegant and first-rate for the whole family. The added bonus is grand footage of the Island of Puerto Rico and a catchy musical catch. I bought 10 copies for family and friends!

Ashtanga Guide is 1   in the oldest varieties of yoga. Ashtanga Yoga literally   signifies eight limbs in Sanskrit, symbolizing the eight aspects of yoga as taught by the sage Patanjali. Full disclosure: I produced this film. It took me 18 yrs. to bring it to fruition. Why, you ask? Because I and my fellow filmmakers wanted this film to be perfect. And perfection takes time. This is not a Youtube video (although we like those Youtube videos), it is a 84-minute masterpiece. It is an keen notice of a complex woman, designed to not only simplify her chronicle so she can arrive a wide audience, but also to bring her to life. I hope you delight in the film.

I frail this video last year when I was teaching Their Eyes Were Watching God. I customary it as a diagram to give some spark to a lesson about her life. The video really helps the class understand the time period she lived in as well as her believe influence on society. I had taped it when it aired on ch 13 but am about to catch it because I lost it. Absolutely worth it.
